Cleaver (クリーバー Kurībā) was a member of Chronos and former junior to Train Heartnet.

Appearance

Cleaver was a tall man who had slightly long, light-colored hair.

His wardrobe consisted of a white coat with a black suit underneath. He also wore black gloves and black shoes.

Personality

As a member of Chronos, Cleaver was very loyal to the organization. He was also a ruthless killer willing to remove anyone in his way. Cleaver seemed to have a low opinion on Sweepers, given his disgust of Train's choice to become one himself.

Manga Plot

Black Cat Arc

During a routine sweeper job, Train and Sven Vollfied's target is stabbed in the chest by a knife thrown by Cleaver. Train recognizes him and asks Sven to leave them alone and save the mark. Train and Cleaver then head to a bridge and converse for while with Cleaver offering the world to Train if he would come back. Train denies his offer and Cleaver reveals that he was sent by the Council of Elders on a mission to return Train to Chronos or kill him. After Train refuses the offer, the two have a stand off and fire at each other at the same time with Train killing Cleaver. Train later sheds a tear thinking of how stupid Cleaver was.

During Train and Creed's fight, Train gets a glimpse of people from his past and Cleaver was one of the people he saw.

Equipment and Abilities

Marksmanship: Being a junior of Train, Cleaver would have been trained well in marksmanship. His weapon of choice was a pistol that was made of Orichalcum. He was also skilled with throwing knives and had pretty good vision. He has 20/13 vision in both eyes.

Relationships

Train Heartnet

Cleaver was a junior of Train back in when he was still in Chronos, and as such, respected him, and aspired to be like him. After Train left Chronos, Cleaver searched for him, and was surprised to discover that his idol had become a sweeper. Cleaver begged Train to come back to Chronos, but the ex-number refused, so Cleaver had no choice but to kill him, something he did not want to do and did not have to, as Train killed him first.

Trivia

• Cleaver is the first one to mention Creed Diskenth in the manga.
• Cleaver is the first member of Chronos to appear in the manga series.
• The fact that Cleaver had a pistol made of Orichalcum may suggest that he was a Chronos Number. Having been a junior of Train's, it's possible that he had replaced Train as the new Number XIII.
